This year’s celebration of Planet Earth has certainly come and gone, but for me and the countless others who attempt to live a life more invested, I’m committed to infusing more earth-loving vibes into my routine. I’ve rounded up a few creative design-related ideas that I hope to tackle this spring and I invite you to join me!
Creative Design Projects
Go on a nature walk. Design is absolutely everywhere you turn. From cloud shapes and leaf patterns, to grass textures and colorful landscapes, you see Elements of Design in nature’s presence.
Plant a vegetable garden. Gardeners are designers, too, and that garden bed is their canvas. For a garden to be fruitful, the gardener must consider how much sunshine a space gets and what vegetables compliment one another. The same is true for designers - what colors go together and what designs build upon another.
Spring clean - Bring a fresh look to your space by giving it a good clean, rearrange and donate or store anything you’re not using. Shop your house first but take a trip to the thrift store, go to garage sales or estate sales for a few new pieces. If you have an outdoor space to spruce up, all the better. A few new pieces and some spring cleaning can work wonders. Imagine yourself enjoying nature in a comfortable, refreshed outdoor area. What could be better?
The freedom to create draws upon inspiration from unlimited sources. And at the end of the day, when my work is done, I always steal a minute or five, to revel in the mysterious beauty of nature. After all, it’s the very spot where my creativity comes alive.
